Love Giuliana Rancic‘s Oscar gown. Seriously, this is the first time i’ve been wowed by her. Check out Rancic’s gown below (by Tony Ward).

In case you’re wondering what the AACTA Awards are, it’s the Australian Academy Cinema Television Arts awards, or formally, the AFIs.

Aussies Megan Gale, Miranda Kerr, and Rachel Taylor were standouts on the red carpet.

Well, I missed the red carpet and show, but caught the gowns later. What did everything think of the choices?

My best choices:

Viola Davis in Marchesa (nice color Viola)

Michelle Williams in Valentino (nice color and design choice, ehem)

Typically I find it hard to stomach Lea Michele (sorry) but it’s hard to deny she looks amazing in this Versace gown.

Stacy Keibler in Marchesa.

Angela Kinsey in Romano Keveza.

Emma Stone in Alexander McQueen.

 Close, but no cigar:

Rose Byrne in an Elie Saab jump suit. I like that she took a chance, but I’m not sure if it was the right time and place.

Berenice Bejo somehow managed to make herself look less attractive than she is.  Between the hair and the necklace is where this look failed.

This may not seem fair, but Katrina Bowden’s Amsale dress reminded me too much of Julianna Margulies’ Calvin Klein Collection gown.

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji. It’s almost there, but it’s almost like she covered up the bottom of her dress with a bed sheet.

I always love an Oscar de la Renta gown, but something about Emily Blunt’s look just isn’t winning me over–the hair perhaps?

Amber Heard (in Zac Posen) is a beautiful girl, but the cut-outs is getting a little old to me.

You’re killin’ me:

Shailene Woodley in L’Wren Scott.Amber Riley in Badgley Mischka.

Busy Phillips in Simone by Katie Nehra.

Heather Morris in Masai Payan.

Kristen Wiig in Balenciaga and a dog collar.

Again with the cut-outs (Pucci). And though Kyra Sedgwick has the body, isn’t there an unwritten rule about things like this after a certain age?

This pains me. I hate this Jenny Packham gown on Angelina Jolie and I hate how thin she is.

My favorite of the night. Claire Danes looked stunning in J. Mendel and Bulgari, but what really made the dress, was…

the back.

Loved Modern Family’s Julie Bowen in this Reem Acra gown. So old Hollwood.

Could Sofia Vergara look bad in anything? The color of this Vera Wang dress is gorgeous though, and the Harry Winston diamonds don’t hurt either.

Apparently, feathers and fishtail gowns were on everyone’s stylist’s minds. Evan Rachel Wood stood out however in a different shade of green in this Gucci Premiere gown.

Thirteen year old Modern Family cast member, Ariel Winter looked very age appropriate and adorable in this purple Dolce & Gabbana dress.

Viola Davis radiated confidence in this burgundy Pucci gown.

A beautiful, ethereal shade, Charlize Theron shined in this Dior Couture gown.

She’s Jessica Lange, what other reason do you need? If I don’t put her on this, she’ll come over and kick my ass.

Dame Helen Mirren looked stunning in Badgley Mischka. She certainly ages like fine wine doesn’t she?

Uggie, the dog from “The Artist”, who upstaged everyone. Awww, look at him.
