Sara Barnes, 26, of Winter Park Flordia is accused of setting fire to a 3,500 year old in Big Tree Park, Florida otherwise known as “The Senator”. Barnes set fire to the tree last month that was named after state lawmaker M.O. Overstreet, who donated the tree and its surrounding land to Seminole County in 1972.
Barnes, who apparently is a model, set fire to one of the oldest Cypress trees in the world so she could see the drugs she was doing.
What once was a 125-ft tree has become 25 ft. of charred bark.
During a raid on Barnes apartment authorities found methamphetamine, a glass pipe and other drug paraphernalia, as well as pictures of the tree fire on Barnes’ laptop and cellphone.
Barnes actually bragged to friends, saying “I can’t believe I burned down a tree older than Jesus.”
Upon seeing Barnes’ mug shot, it was apparent of the drug abuse. However, any photo I’ve seen of the girl is quite scary. How she is/was a model, I have no idea. Perhaps the drug abuse started long ago.

Aw how nice, posing with nature.

The tree in its former glory, which survived many hurricanes, including one in 1925 which reduced its height by 40 feet.
What remains of the tree.
